Every runner that comes to our office is analyzed via video so that each nuance of their running form is assessed. This tells us why the injury is present. To determine what the injury is we then do a thorough evaluation. When this process is completed, we then begin our two-fold process of both treatment as well as teaching the runner how to improve his or her running to prevent future re-injury.
Our theory is that good runners are made, not born. While each of us can run, why do we assume that running is different than tennis or golf or any other skill that must be learned? While there are runners with naturally good form, they are rare. Good running form is learned, and when done properly, injuries decrease and running efficiency improves. Running done right can be done for years, even decades, without the risk of joint or other injuries.
